About George Perez
George Antonio Perez was born the seventh son of nine siblings in Tijuana, Mexico. His family immigrated to the United States when he was one year old and settled in South Central Los Angeles. George was raised by his mother in a strict Catholic home. At seven years old, his father passed away. His mother was left to raise her children with support from her 3 eldest sons. Growing up, George spent much of his energy break-dancing with his brothers. He was accepted into the Los Angeles High School of the Performing Arts at 15 years old. While attending school, he was discovered by Kenny Ortega, Director and Choreographer of the "High School Musical" franchise. That same year he also appeared in his first break out role as the lead in Elton John’s music video, “A Word in Spanish." A string of guest starring roles followed on hit TV shows like "China Beach,” "ER,” "JAG,” and "Walker Texas Ranger." By 17 years old, George was starring in his first feature film, “Toy Soldiers.“
He then relocated to Moscow, Russia for a year to star in an action adventure series called “Empire of the Eagles,” where he worked alongside actors from the Stanislavski Academy. From Moscow he flew straight to New York to start filming “Manhattan Merengue,” where he got the chance to use his dance training. Working opposite Alison Reed from “Chorus Line” and “High School Musical.”
George credits his relationship with God and his mother's prayers for his success.
